BIOLOGICAL CONTROL
Vine Weevil Control
Vine weevils are around 1cm long, a light grey-brownish colour with pale marks.
• They cause ‘notches’ in the leaves of ornamental plants as larvae feed on plant roots. Infestations can escalate quickly as adults lay their eggs close to the roots of plants which hatch and begin to feed underground
Nemasys® L
Steinernema Kraussei
Nemasys® L is based on the bene cial nematode, Steinernema kraussei and provides rapid curative control of black vine weevil (otiorhynchus sulcatus) in soft fruit and ornamentals.
Exhibitline Hb
Heterorhabidtis bacteriophora
Exhibitline Hb biological control agent contains the insect pathogenic nematode, Heterorhabditis bacteriophora, as infective juveniles. It is used to control black vine weevil larvae in ornamentals and berries, and for curative chafer grub control in turf.
Caterpillar (Lepidoptera) Control
Larvae of various species of moths and butter ies cause damage mainly by feeding on foliage and in some cases by burrowing into developing fruit, plant stems or roots.
• In severe cases, infestation can lead to total defoliation or collapse of a plant. In lesser cases crop yields will be reduced or produce will be unmarketable due to the presence of the caterpillars in the fruit.
Tricholine
Trichogramma brassicae
Tricholine biological control is composed of a species speci cally selected for its ability to destroy the eggs of moths. As the wasp egg hatches it consumes the host egg, developing inside the egg case and as it emerges as an adult is disrupts the moths lifecycle.
Macroline
Macrolophus pygmaeus
Macroline biological control agent contains the predatory bug, Macrolophus pygmaeus. This generalist predatory bug is primarily released for white y control, but will feed on other pests such as moth eggs and caterpillars.
